Who we are
Lingotai is the data controller for the information below. Questions or requests: [email protected].
What we collect
- Your email address, when you join the waitlist.
- What you told us on the form: the language you want to learn, how much Japanese you knew when you started, and any genre votes.
- How far you read chapter 1: pages read, words met, and whether you finished it.
- Which link brought you here (for example, which ad), and when and where you ticked the consent box, with its exact wording.
- Basic visit statistics: pages viewed, the link you arrived from, device type and country. These are counted without cookies and are not used to identify you.
Why
- To email you new chapters and occasional Lingotai news, because you asked us to.
- To see which ads and stories people want, so we know what to make next.
Our lawful basis is your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with the unsubscribe link in any email, or by emailing us.
On your device
The comic remembers the words you have met and where you said you started, so it can show you which words are new. This stays in your browser's storage and is not sent to us unless you join the waitlist. Clear your browser's site data to remove it.
Who handles it for us
- Kit stores the waitlist and sends our emails.
- Cloudflare hosts this website.
- Umami counts visits and a few events, such as finishing chapter 1.
- Google Fonts serves the fonts on this page, so your browser's IP address reaches Google when the page loads.
Some of these providers are outside the UK. They process your data under their data processing terms, which use the UK's approved safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
We keep your email and form answers while you are on the list. If you unsubscribe, we delete them within 12 months. Visit statistics are kept only as totals.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected]. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
